पाटील हे भालके यांचा उमेदवारी अर्ज दाखल करण्यासाठी पंढरीत आले होते. यावेळी संत तनपुरे महाराज मठात आयोजित पदाधिकारी व कार्यकर्त्यांच्या मेळाव्यात ते बोलत होते. यावेळी व्यासपीठावर पालकमंत्री दत्तात्रय भरणे, राष्ट्रवादी जिल्हाध्यक्ष बळीराम काका साठे, पक्षाचे नेते तथा माजी आमदार राजन पाटील, आमदार संजय शिंदे, काँगे्रस कार्याध्यक्षा आमदार प्रणिती शिंदे, शिवसेना जिल्हाध्यक्ष संभाजी शिंदे, काँग्रेसचे जिल्हाध्यक्ष प्रकाश पाटील पानीवकर यांच्यासह महाविकास आघाडीतील घटकपक्षांचे पदाधिकारी उपस्थित होते.
